Grace and Peace to You ~
As the deer longs for flowing streams, so my soul longs for you, O God - Psalm 42:1
Welcome to The Book of Deer. Here we “follow the deer” and the Living Word - in the movement of God in our hearts, our lives, in the wonder and beauty of Creation, in our kindness and love of one another.
Along the way I will share illustrations, poetry, reflection, music compositions, and more, inspired by:
illuminated medieval manuscripts ~ the Psalms ~ herbal healing ways ~ the gifts, wonder, and wisdom of Creation ~ sacred tradition and the Liturgy of the Hours ~ harp ~ St. Hildegard of Bingen and other saints ~ my reawakened Catholic Christian faith ~ Scripture and other readings
Who am I?
I’m Jane Valencia. I play and teach harp. I love the beauty and virtues of the plants, and am an herbalist. I love to paint and write, and create. You can find out more about my artistry and projects at Forest Halls. I am also an owner-editor of an entirely independent community newspaper, The Vashon Loop.
I’m delighted to meet you, and hope you’ll introduce yourself to me. Please don’t feel that you need to be Christian to be here. All are welcome!
